John Kroy Ostergaard was born in Or. in July 1924, but grew up in Ill. He joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. and later served at Camp Swift, Tex. and in Italy. Ostergaard was a member of Company B, Headquarters of the 1st Battalion and Company D of the 85th Infantry Regiment. He attained the rank of Private First Class. From the description of J.
